Denis Villeneuve to Direct, Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in Crime Thriller 'The Son'
Following their collaboration on Prisoners and Enemy, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and Jake Gyllenhaal will bring Jo Nesbo's critically acclaimed suspense novel to the big screen.
Villeneuve will the film, which follows a long-imprisoned drug addict who stages a breakout on a revenge mission after discovering the surprising truths behind his father's suicide.
Villeneuve is developing the adaptation alongside Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker, who are producing through Nine Stories. Gyllenhaal follows Nightcrawler, which was his debut producing gig. Since then, he's teamed with Bold Films to produce Drive and Whiplash.
“Denis is one of the most inspiring filmmakers working today, and partnering with him on The Son represents everything that Jake and I strived for when we launched the company," Marker said.
